The Dallas Morning News (http:// http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/DN-smuggle_09met.ART.State.Edition2.4ccf3dd.html) reported that 27 people were arrested in the Dallas area on charges of migrant-smuggling. The Federal government has accused these people of bringing 500 to 1,000 illegal immigrants a month into the United States. The U.S. Attorney's office said these arrests were the result of a two-year investigation.

i've been in the US on a f-1 visa since 2006. i am getting my masters at the moment. i am planning on getting married to my girlfriend who is a US citizen. i have been with her for the past 2 years and am dearly in love with her. we plan on getting married and i was wondering if i get married to her, can i apply for a green card right away or do i have to wait for a while before i can apply for a green card. she is also a student getting her bachelors.
my second question is that if i can apply for a green card then could i take a semester off and return to studying next semester or would that be a problem since i am on an F-1 visa.
i would appreciate it if i could get an answer soon so that i could take the semester off.

Friends Hi :
Pls. advise me on our best choice.
I am on H1 (primary), currently working for this company for past 6-7 years. Applied for I-485, AP, EAD on 2nd July along with my husband's petition, who came to US on H4. Changed to F1 for past 5 years. He just got his EAD card and in next 6 months time, he will be accepting position with my same company upon graduation.
My question is what shd we do now, since he is on F1 on student records, but has a EAD approved.
Possibilities :-
1) Shd he call his student dept and get records changed from F1 to EAD holder?
2) Shd he continue as F1 and not worry about EAD for now?
3) Shd he accept the pjob offer on EAD and move on from there?
4) Can I continue to be on H1 and not use up EAD for now?
Pls. advise me our further course of action, which is legally correct.

Hello,
I am holding a valid H1-B visa which was stamped in 2007. But before i could make my travel plan i could see recession hitting US and people out of jobs. This made me to hold back my job at home instead of quitting in a hurry.
Now i am based in UK on an assignment and i would like to VISIT USA as a TOURIST for 4 weeks to see my brother.
1) Am i allowed to visit as a visitor ?
2) Can i still hold H1-b visa active without being cancelled ?
Anybody, please could you advise me how to go about.

I have an approved I 140 application and I485 not applied as the dates are not current. I have an opportunity to work for the same company same job profile and job code but in a different city. The new city falls under the same Metropolitan statistical area. Do I still need to re file my perm and I 140 in addition to H1b amendment ?

I am not planning to use these certs.

This might be little bit old, but I dont remember seeing a post on this. Employment-based immigrant visa fees almost doubled, Old fees $ 355, new fees $ 720 from July 13th. Does this mean USCIS will open the gates in Sept bulletin [to be released in August]?

I have a question about forming an LLC while being on H1B. I am entering into an agreement with an Incorporated company to provide my technical services to it and in return they need to give me a percentage of the revenue. Clearly, I cannot enter into this kind of arrangement as myself as I not authorized to work in the US. For that I am planning to form an LLC or an Incorporation and my company will enter into a contract with the other Incorporation. Is this legal or will this be construed as an effort to bypass H1B laws? I'll still be doing the daytime job and fulfilling my obligations that I have with the H1B sponsoring employer.

I am an EB3 (rest of the world) -
My I485 has a receipt date of 7/24/2007.
The processing date TSC is showing is 7/16/2007.
When my date comes up inside the Processing dates range, will the category be relevant for the approval? I am asking this question because I have a friend that is an EB2 and a receipt date of Sept 2007, and got his GC on December 2007...
If the categories are relevant, how can we monitor the process (the processing dates then become irrelevant)...
